A New Year Message

Take a pause, I invite you. It’s likely been a busy season.

How are you feeling?

Are you aware of your true needs? And are these needs being met and honoured?

Do you have new year resolutions? Do you feel ready to start strong on your new year resolutions? Maybe new year resolutions aren’t your thing. (I’m not keen on trying to start resolutions at the turn of the western calendar year myself, although sometimes it happens naturally.)

One approach I’d like to share is to take some time resting and reflecting before embarking on new challenges and endeavors. Practice being still.

Taking time to rest and rejuvenate before new or renewed endeavors allows space for clarity. It also helps set you up for success by having greater energy levels to work with. This is more helpful than running on fumes and operating from lack, confusion, or depletion which often leads to illness and breakdown.

In the northern hemisphere, it’s the peak of winter and the nights are still longer than the days. Nature is not in full bloom right now and I encourage you to align with Mother Nature by resting and practing inner stillness and moments of quiet. At the same time there is a lot going on underneath the surface in preparation for growth and outward activity. Move gradually. We all have our own personal rhythms and energy. Explore what alignment looks like for you at this time.

Are you clear on the why behind your goals, desires, and intentions? If you want to let go of a habit, perhaps ponder what drives you to carry out that habit in the first place and address the root driving the habit. If you want to achieve, attain, create something, what is the feeling or end result you would like it to bring about? What is the inspiration sparking and fueling your desires? Do you feel connected to your original inspiration? Has the vision changed? Have you changed or your life circumstances changed? These are some questions to reflect on. What else comes to mind for you? What comes up in moments of stillness or peace?

Life can be demanding, and sometimes we have many demands or requests for our time and energy. Sometimes it’s necessary to focus more energy into certain areas of life. Sometimes it’s neccessary to say no and prioritize our energy and focus on one area or specific areas. Remember the saying, you can’t pour from an empty cup.

May you be nourished. May you be well.

Wishing you spaciousness, ease, alignment.
