Daily Calm 50 Mindfulness & Yoga Prompts

1. Receive and refine your thinking. You are invited to be open to receiving what it is you truly want and need, and open to the ways in which you can recieve. You may think you are open, but are you? Are you fully aware of what you actually really want and need, and the reason why?

Sometimes a narrow or particular focus can block us from seeing and receiving from various avenues. Sometimes a narrow focus perpetuates things unwanted. Soar into a higher perspective and way of thinking. Kundalini yoga could be helpful for you to explore now.
It could be helpful also to stop picking apart details, and controlling or micromanaging, or being hyperfocused on one point. There is a higher perspective available to you here. There is a grander vision at play than the one you may have been squinting or glaring at.

Eagle is amplifying your message to honour and nourish your earthly body, do the work to reach more balance and grounding, so you can see and receive a higher, more divine perspective and spread that throughout all reaches and corners of your life. It all works in tandem. Shifting your consciousness can also help you have better insight, vision, and will for balancing your body.

Choose the avenue that is most easily accessible to you in the present moment. If you feel more open to grounding your body, doing physical excercises and focusing on food, do that. If you feel more open to visualising, meditating, chanting, art therapy, whatever it is you feel open to, do that.

A need for balance is being highlighted, so that you can feel more fully alive and present in your body and life, and radiate that full presence, in all your actions and interactions, as well as more fully feel and recieve joy, love and all good things in your being and life.

“Are you aware of yourself? Are you in tune with your emotions?.. The card of Dharti Hai Akash Hai demands that you stop running away from the truth to amplify your own presence.”
Full mantra: Dharti hai akash hai guru ram das hai.
Translation of mantra: “The earth is. The ether is. Guru Ram Das is.”
Meditation and mantra practice that goes along with this card: Begin comfortably seated upright. Imagine a landscape. Clearly visualise the ground you sit on and the sky above you. (Visualise can mean any of your senses if you dont easily “see”.) Visualise the ground and chant dharti hai, visualise the sky and chant akash hai, visualise the temple within your heart and chant guru ram das hai. (From The Mantra Oracle by Lily Barbery-Coulon)
Mudra: Gyan mudra- thumb and pointer finger press together.

Helpful practice for shifting perspective:
To help with shifting your perspective, one practice is to think of as many blessings as you can think of. Keep thinking of these blessings and savour the good feelings. From there you can either apply those good feelings and thoughts towards shifting a particular perspective, or keep reveling in the blessings and let all else go.
You have already shifted your perspective if you’re feeling happy for your blessings. Things can have a way of working themselves out and aligning when we focus on what feels good and let go for a time.

Yoga Asana Pose: Lunge or High Lunge (Anjaneyasna / Ardha Alana or Alana). Focus on engaging your core and feeling balance and stability. Let this empower you. When you fall out of balance, lovingly catch yourself and adjust accordingly. You are allowed to move and discover what balance feels like. You are allowed to use support props. You are allowed to experience imbalance and any emotions or feelings that come up. “The only way to set emotions that are stagnant back in motion is to feel them.”

2. Be a force for quiet compassion. You are being invited to be open to not needing to retaliate in anger or hurt, or act from a feeling of aggression or condemnation. You don’t need to be the equalizer or the punisher. Could you quietly feel compassion instead? Feel compassion for yourself and the situation in mind? Possibly compassion for another? If compassion for another is uncomfortable or out of the question, let that go and focus on compassion for you and what you are experiencing. To be alive as a human during the Kali Yug shifting of the ages requires compassion for oneself and the human experience.

“The whole universe is polarized. There are endless pairs of oppsites… shadow and light. Hot and cold.” Yin and Yang / feminine and masculine. All of existence is made of the 20 gunas which are qualities that have an exact polarity, again like hot and cold, liquid and dry. We are all made up of our own unique quantities of these qualities or gunas. As is the nature of life, our polarities and qualities can become unbalanced if we are not attentive.

Right now you are invited to focus on balancing the extremes and polarities within you and your life. Where has one or more energy been dominant? Acknowledge how that may have been helping and serving you. Consider if that quality or energy has thrown any other area of life out of balance or cast it aside. Even if it does not feel out balance to you, there are other energies needing to play and act in your life and some energies may need rest and rejuvenation.

We are experiencing a paradigm shift, that means major change and rebalance is essential and unavoidable. During this eclipse cycle or whenever you are reading this, you may be feeling quite intense emotions and energy. This is a sign of shifting or a need for intentional energy work.

You chose the wild card animal guide. This can be any animal or creature that will come to your attention or has already been popping up in your awareness. This could also be an elemental, an angel, unicorn, dragon, the point of the wild card is that the guide or guides come to you through your own awareness and noticing and it leaves room for any possibility. There are way more creatures and beings than cards I have to offer. When your guide comes to you, notice the behaviours and qualities you notice and that attract or deter you. What is the message for you?

Yoga Asana Pose: Goddess Pose  (Utkata Konasana) This is a challening wide legged squat pose. Ease into this pose by starting standing taller with a wider stance, toes turned out as much as comfortable. Slowly sink into the squat, bending your knees, while aiming to keep a tall spine, and notice where you start to feel sensation. Don’t push, but play with the sensation instead and notice how micromovents may have a big feel or effect in your body and balance.

Goddess Pose traditionally is used to activate feminine energy. You can also activate masculine energy in this pose by consciously and intentionally engaging with masculine or warrior energy within. Play with polarity if you like!

Full Mantra: “Ra ra ra ra ma ma ma ma rama rama rama rama sa ta na ma.
Translation of Mantra: “Ra is the solar energy. Ma is the lunar energy. Rama refers to the divine when the two polarities are merged. Sa Ta Na Ma: birth, life, death, rebirth.”
Mudra: Gyan mudra (thumb and pointer finger press together)
Meditation Practice from The Mantra Oracle: Chant the mantra in a cross-legged seat with hands in guyan mudra for at least 11 minutes. Option to practice with a partner, sitting face to face, keeping eye contact, your palms pressing to your partners palms at shoulder height.

During this wild intense turning of the ages, age of possibilities and great change, remind yourself of the possibility that some of your best days are still to come.

The mantra “asks you to avoid oversimplification and to meet your truth by harmonizing what is still unbalanced within you.” Ayurveda and yoga are beautiful healing systems that can help you experience wellness and balance, from right exactly where you are. If you are not already practicing, perhaps this is your invitation to learn or apply more. Remember to look to your guides and environment for encouragement and inspiration.

3. Rebuild. Create a new neural pathway. Your invitation, dear beloved, is to retreat and withdraw so you can deeply recuperate and restore your energy and have time to start a new thinking or behaving pattern. You are put on notice that continuing to push on in this way is draining your sacred life force energy and funneling it into avenues that may be only siphoning your sweet essence and not providing any nectar or sweetness in return.

Please stop feeding your energy into what is and give yourself a rest. We attract situations and the people in our life based on our own energy and beliefs and what we are willing to allow. We all have karma and situations we may have been born into. We all have dharma and natural purpose. If you feel like you are being attacked or trying to stay afloat in life- retreat, rest, recover, recoup.

When we are separated from our sense of peace and safety within, many moments can feel anxiety ridden and full of fear or anger and apprehension. Every energy we interact with has an effect on us for better or worse. Withdraw your energy. Fortify yourself with a container of rest and safety. Deeply visualise all the barriers to peace and love dissolving, disintegrating, disappearing. Let a place and feeling of safety, peace, and love build within and build new boundaries of protection and support.

Full Mantra: “Peace before me, peace behind me, peace at my left, peace at my right, peace above me, peace below me, peace within me, peace in my surroundings,  peace to all, peace to the universe” (then repeat replacing peace with love and again with light). i,e. Love before, love behind me… light before me, light behind me…
From The Mantra Oracle

Mudra: Hands on your heart

Envision your favorite view of nature you have ever experienced. Let this contribute to your peace.

Yoga Asana Pose: Upward Facing Dog (Urdhva Mukha Svanasana) This yoga asana pose and the image on the Light Prayer card both suggest heart opening. When we feel vulnerable or attacked, the last thing we want to do is display and open our heart in such a open position. We would often rather do the opposite and collapse or protect.

It’s as if you are going forward in life pretending to have an open heart and really wanting to or maybe even thinking it really is. But there is depletion and fear and that causes contraction. Go into your place of safety and retreat so you can practice feeling safe to really and fully open your heart.

If this pose feels like too much exposure or you don’t feel safe, experiment with poses or movements that give you a feeling of a sense of safety. Also experiment with postures and movements that give you a feeling of a sense of empowerment and again of joy. Always moving from a feeling of safety first.

Anytime you feel called, visualise peace, love, and light surrounding you. When you are wrapped in love, you are protected. Retreat and rest from overwhelming and unnecessary stressors.

If a full on rest and retreat feels like too much, pick one aspect or situation you can remove your energy from. Also consider a serious overhaul with trusted guidance in order to form new neural pathways.

Prairie Dog says: “Praire dog calls me when it’s time to rest, when it’s time to honor the internal quest. I go into retreat so I may see, a way to replenish the potential in me.” -from Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams and David Carson.

4. The universe is listening; think with love.

Visualise yourself attracting positive things into your life.

How do you define your life and how do you define yourself within your life?

If you knew the universe was listening and responding, what would you say and think?

The message of alligator is to integrate all the parts of your life and your self as one whole. You are alive and you have this life right here, right now. It is all experienced through you. Do you think the creator or creation is seeing and witnessing through your eyes? What do you think of this mystery that is life? Its a natural time to explore these thoughts and beliefs. You are the common denominator in your life and it is you who will return to the one whole, merging your one of a kind unique experience of your life in your human body. Perhaps the experience of lifetimes are integrating in your consciousness now.

“The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and so obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves.” – a thought from Alan Watts. Do you agree?

I am I am gives you this invitation: Stop compartmentalizing your state of being, and stop defining yourself with passing emotions, the functions you are responsible for, or your physical state. You are.”
Full mantra: “I am”

Yoga Asana Pose: Bridge Pose (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana)
If you do this pose, notice if your knees splay out to the side. Aim to draw your upper legs together, with your anlkes aligned directly under your knees. This strengthens and protects the knees.

Practice: I am that. If you see a beautiful sunset, or feel a breeze or the warm sunshine, notice it and really take in it’s qualities. Say, I am that. You can do this with anything. Also, practice just saying I am. Notice your body, notice your presence, and say I am. Notice the feelings and qualities of something without having to logically name it.
