Ayurveda PSA: Eat Light at Dinner Time

Why does Ayurveda suggest eating light at dinner time and heavier during lunch time?

Digestive fire is highest when the sun is highest. This is peak Pitta time and Pitta equals digestive fire. We have more fire to digest when the sun is high so it is beneficial to eat your most nutrient dense meal at this time. Eating light for dinner gives the body less heavy digesting to do as you sleep & leaves more digestive fire for important bodily maintenance. This can also with help with increased immunity.

Consider dinner as supper time. Supper is a lighter meal. Think of supper as supplementing the nutrients still needed for the day or as a light snack.
