Do you ever wish you could finally have a breakthrough or make the mindset changes that you’ve been working on stick? Do you want to experience more clarity in your life? You are in good company. Kundalini Yoga may be able to help you reach your goals and create lasting change.
How can Kundalini Yoga help you rewire your brain and create new habits? In Kundalini Yoga movement, breath, mind, and spirit are all engaged in order to generate and free your innate energy. Your body can hold on to memories and experiences and hold programming in your physicality and energy systems. Repetitive ways of thinking and responding, and repetitive non movement can create fixations and habits in mind and body. Kundalini yoga works with your anatomy and physiology to help calibrate and balance your energy bodies and your nervous system. What may be frozen or stuck within can begin to flow freely and be felt, healed, transmuted, or even enjoyed when you access the wisdom within you. In Kundalini Yoga you can expect movements to be repeated and held while often including a focus on breathing or chanting and visualisation.
For me personally, after a posture or movement is held and then released I feel a rush of energy followed by calm as a result from the effort. Kundalini Yoga can focus on specific movements or areas of the body to create specific effects. Perhaps a certain movement acts to stimulate the heart center or activate digestion, or to raise energy or to be more grounded, or focus on specific chakras to name a few examples. Feminine form Kundalini Yoga also takes in to account that every person’s energy body and physical body is unique, and therefore each person may experience the same kriya differently.
All kriyas in Kundalini Yoga can help you rewire your brain and create new habits because all Kundalini Yoga works with physiology, energy, and anatomy. As postures are held new blood is created and organs are engaged. The fascia system is hydrated and able to become more supple and flexible. The fixations blocking the free flow of your innate light and kundalini energy are transformed, supporting the free flow of energy that can help you create new habits and allow old patterns to dissolve.
Specifically I want to talk about a kriya called Kriya for Clarity and Circulation. This kriya works intentionally to cleanse your perception and clear the fixation of old patterns. All of the moves in this kriya serve to increase circulation throughout your body. The pelvic bowl and center of gravity are balanced throughout the practice in resting warrior, tree pose, and goddess pose / horse stance variations. As you twist with arms raised in exalted twist, you engage your diaphragm and work with the connection between your breath and belief to help give fuel and trust to your efforts. In Yali pose, we intentionally create discomfort and tension to create release and become more comfortable with meeting and handling stress in everyday life. By meeting great challenge and discomfort in your kriya practice, you build greater capacity to meet challenge and discomfort outside of practice. Your nervous system can become more balanced. The Kriya for Clarity and Circulation also offers a posture called the cross crawl which helps shape your brain and wiring. This is my favorite portion to think of and call in what you desire as you consciously and intentionally wire the programming in your brain. The kriya finishes with a move to further activate your arms and heart center and balance all lenses of your perception so you can embrace what is desired -that which you are creating and calling in, and to clear and push away that which is to be cleared, transformed, transmuted. All movements and postures in this kriya serve to increase circulation in the entire body. With increased circulation and clearer perception we may experience greater clarity, ease, and energy in everyday life.
Kriya for Clarity and Circulation is wonderful to practice anytime and is great for a 40 day practice. Practicing Kundalini Yoga consistently helps prevent fixation and rigidity and helps to keep your light and energy in flow. This is a great kriya to practice during the Spring Equinox and beginning of spring or anytime you would like to dissolve stagnation, generate more circulation and energy in your body and mind, and create balance and harmony throughout your entire life.
